A local feed for a new city.
Dangdi (当地) means "local". It is a community app for Chinese newcomers in Copenhagen, and its home screen gathers what a new arrival looks for: people with shared interests, useful articles, events, places to eat and local offers. Dangdi AI acts as the app's own local guide. This case is about the interface and the concepts explored for it.

Home
One feed for a new city
The home screen is a single long feed. A row of 3D icons switches between Home, News, Read, Food and Places, and each section that follows is a horizontal shelf with its own See All: For You, top articles, people, events, places nearby and offers. A floating bar keeps create, explore, community and search within reach at every scroll position.

Language
Designed for Chinese as well as English
A Simplified Chinese version runs through the whole feed, not just the headings. The same layout holds both languages, with shorter Chinese labels in the tabs, buttons and section titles.

Photo concept
A home that follows the time of day
An experimental direction opens on a full-bleed street photo of the city with a greeting: What is Happening in Copenhagen. The photo changes with the time, from day at 13:41 to evening at 19:41 and night at 22:41, and the feed slides up over it. The concept was also laid out in Chinese.

Assets
Details made for the app
Custom assets give the app its character. 3D navigation icons have active and inactive states, level medals come in numbered and locked states, and avatars sit in glass bubbles, inspired by the idea of "your own bubble": a familiar community that helps people feel at home in a new city. The Dangdi AI pill marks where the app's local AI appears.
